Got paged this morning. Wasn't expecting a call from the president, but one of our local customers had a server go down late last night. The sshd was down so I couldn't get access to it, but the proper ports were open, so it was definitely some kind of process-level problem. I had them take the machine out of the round-robin loop and asked them to restart it. Luckily, they wanted to get back to X-mas too, so they just took it out of the loop and would deal with it next week. With that out of the way, I was able to get back to makin' merry.
Got some really cool stuff this X-mas, including a giant microbe plushy. R got me Beer and Bread Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It's totally cute. Also got "Planet Simpson" by Chris Turner, and a Surreal Gourmet cookbook.
