Weird Mood Today

Was going to post something from 1842, but I was caught up in Paul William Roberts' book again. I'm almost finished it, and considered coming in late for werk just so I could get the book out of my mind. It gave my morning a bit of a surreal quality, and the overcast sky helped put a damper on my mood. This is one of those rare occasions that coming into work actually lifted my spirits.

I wonder if anyone in the U.S. is reading this book; if anyone in a military family, or in the government -- if a soldier somewhere has found this book, and is reading it. Is it making them angry? Are they enraptured by it? Is it changing their way of thinking?

Roberts has a blog too, pretty interesting reading on there, but not updated since 2004...

On another note, I remember saying something about Pat Robertson's little fatwah against Venezuelan president, Chavez. Looks like I'm not the only one who thinks it was illegal. This latest from the International Relations and Security Network (ISN):

Robertson said the US should go ahead and kill the left-wing Chavez, whom he accused of spreading terror and unrest throughout Latin America.

Chavez blasted those comments.

"I am announcing that my government is going to take legal action in the US [...] to call for the assassination of a head of state is an act of terrorism," said Chavez. "If the US government does not take action that it must take, we will go to the United Nations and the Organization of American States to denounce the US government," he added.
