  Morning Cup of Coffee

It's been a long time since I've posted a picture of my coffee cup. Well, the long wait is over!

It's Friday, and I'm getting in a few hours of writing. I'm working on my second novel, trying to get all the parts to fit together. It's about 10,000 words away from first draft. Not bad.

Of course, then the editing needs to begin.

Also, looking for an agent. And a publisher.

Hoo boy.

This image is just a filler for this moblogging post, which is testing out tagging for Movable Type. I'm just trying to see if I can also submit tags using hashtags. If it works, you'll see a section called Related Entries below it.

Update: No tags or tag functionality in this plugin. I'll muck around with it and try to add it in. Meantime, let's add tags manually.

  Coffee and some writing

Got a writer's night coming up, so I have to write an X-mas horror story. Not a literal horror story, per se, but something that personifies all that's wrong with the season.

A new whisky/espresso bar in Waterloo is opening up, just at King and Bridgeport. Sounds like a refreshing new idea in K-W. Also, they have a jackalope as a mascot.

However, they're a little coy about their hours of operation:

We're open most days about 8 or 9, occasionally as early as 7, but some days as late as 12 or 1.

We're closed about 7 or 8, and occasionally on weekends at 11.

Some days or afternoons we aren't here at all, and lately we're here
all the time except when we're someplace else ;)

Reading another Jo Nesbo book (is that 'Joe' or 'Yo'?) and grabbing a cup at Williams on Northfield. I'm all out of order on this series, so I know how the book ends. Still, it's a page-turner. Some great Norwegian crime fiction here.

  Bodum Travel Mug

Doubles as a thermal carafe at the office. Makes great coffee!

  Spider Bones

Finally in paperback. I'm taking a break from my Scandinavian crime fiction books.

  Iron River

Just read T. Jefferson Parker's book. Says it's a "Charlie Hood Novel," but I'm not sure where I am in the series. It was good until about halfway through when the plot veered into the supernatural.

Yeah, I came in late in the series. He's done 16 books before this one.

  Another Brief History

Re-reading Hawking's book. Still a pretty fun read.

  The Terrorists

The last Martin Beck thriller. I never read this one, but just recently found it on the shelves.

  New Book

Part of my ongoing obsession with Scandinavian crime writers (does Iceland count here?). Jar City, by Arnaldur Indridason.

  Hot Coffee

Taking the day off work to clean and prep for the art show. Having a hot cup of coffee at 1842, after putting up some posters.

  Friday's Coffee

Culture de Café. In those big cups they have here.

I think this BB camera has similar lighting issues to old Polaroid SX-70s.

  Dog On It

A Chet and Bernie mystery. By Spencer Quinn. Chet is the narrator â.¦ and a dog.

  Thursday Coffee Culture

Either my butt is still sore from snowboarding, or these big, comfy chairs are really not all that comfortable.

I know, I know. 'Dude, you're supposed to snowboard with your feet!'

  Leather Maiden

Another Joe R. Lansdale book. With coffee. At 1842.

Accidentally asked for a "large" coffee today. My bad.

  Mister Jinnah: Securities

By Donald J. Hauka. A savvy Kenyan crime writer tracks down a killer in Vancouver while he tries to get his next big story.

Took a while to get into this book, but I like the premise.

  The Road

Cormac McCarthy's book. Now a movie, apparently. Sort of a feel-good family story, with a road trip and a crazy shopping cart with a wonky wheel.

  Never End

An Erik Winter novel by Ake Edwardson. Not sure if this is the second book in the series, but let's assume that it is.

  A Latte

This is a delicious latte from Whole Lot-A Gelata in Waterloo.

  Coffee and a Scone

Because, without a scone, it's just a cup of coffee.

Kitty-corner to the Coffee Culture on King St. in KW is Carry-On Comics. Cool.
